  • Overview

    Performs a variety of skilled maintenance and repairs on CCAA buildings and equipment. The position is responsible for the construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair of facilities, buildings, and mechanical systems. The Maintenance Technician, performs under general supervision, reporting to either the Supervisor or the Maintenance Technician Lead, and is a semi-skilled or skilled maintenance specialist, requiring 0-2 years’ experience and requires maintenance level competency, and physical abilities to diagnose, alter, repair, maintain, and construct buildings, facilities, and mechanical systems of less complexity than may be required. The position may assist other skilled crafts at the as needed with other assignments. Repairs and maintenance must be coordinated with flight schedules to minimize interruptions to the traveling public.

    Responsibilities

    1. Performs inspections and preventative maintenance on all Jetbridges in a safe and timely manner to ensure safe and efficient operation. Inspections are performed daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and safety alerts.
    2. Inspects and performs operational checks, preventative maintenance and repairs on conveyer belt systems, to ensure minimal interruption of baggage service.
    3. Inspect, maintain, and repair all building plumbing systems, such bathroom fixtures, hardware, backflow systems, and faucets.
    4. Inspects, maintains, and repairs as needed buildings floors and roofs and systems.
    5. Works with a team to ensure buildings and facilities are safe, secure, and appear well, by painting, repairing or replacing dry-wall, and locks and keys.
    6. Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and safe and effective operation of hangar doors at the satellite airports.
    7. May inspects and ensures proper operation of the Fuel Farm at LRO.
    8. Related Skilled Maintenance
    9. Participates with or assists other maintenance specialists as needed, to assure safety, balance workload, and complete projects on a timely-basis.
    10. Performs other duties as assigned to meet overall objective of the position and in support of the CCAA Mission.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

     

    Requires working knowledge of the practices, methods, techniques, materials, tools, equipment, layouts and set-ups used the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Requires a working knowledge of the uses and purposes of hand and power tools, meters, and other equipment used in mechanical work, construction, and general maintenance. Requires knowledge of the assembly and operation of labor saving devices such as personnel and material handling equipment. Requires basic knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance procedures for fire prevention and alarm systems. Requires knowledge of safe work practices and the safety orders of OSHA and Aviation industry. Requires knowledge of and skill at using a computer and common office productivity software to access work related information. Requires sufficient math skills to make detailed measurements. Requires sufficient human relations skills to work as part of a team and convey technical information to and from co-workers and contractors.

     

    ABILITIES

     

    Requires the ability to perform maintenance mechanical work skillfully and in a timely manner and participate/assist in the work of other trades. Requires the ability to promptly respond to District emergencies. Requires the ability to operate vehicles and labor saving devices such as chain hoists and electric high-lift equipment, maintenance equipment, and hand and power tools used to perform construction, carpentry, electrical and mechanical services. Requires the ability to observe safe work practices and handle hazardous materials according to accepted procedures. Requires the ability to complete projects on a timely basis and support special events. Requires the ability to complete training within a reasonable time in handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, asbestos awareness, OSHA standards, and blood borne pathogens. Requires the ability to maintain productive and cooperative working relationships with others.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

     

    Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk up to 400 yards, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Requires the ability to push, pull, and guide materials over 75 pounds. Requires balance to work above ground. Requires the ability to climb (e.g. ladders and poles), stoop, kneel, and crouch on a regular basis. Requires sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate specialized equipment and safety information. Requires auditory ability to hear machinery sounds and alarms. Requires near and far visual acuity to read printed materials, moving objects, and observe work-in-progress. Requires speaking ability to carry on ordinary conversations. Requires the ability to work in extreme temperature conditions.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

     

    Work is performed indoors and outdoors in extreme weather conditions where significant safety considerations exist from physical labor, handling of medium-to-heavy weight materials, and exposure to electrical currents.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

     

    The position requires the skills and experience equivalent to perform the tasks at the maintenance level. The position requires a High School diploma, and industry training and 0-2 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

     

    Requires a valid Driver’s License.

     

    PAY RANGE:

     

    $18.90 - $22.50 is commensurate with certification and experience
