  • Overview

    Monitors and facilitates courteous and lawful drop off, pick-up zone traffic, and pedestrian activity. Provides other assistance to customers to assure their safety when arriving or departing airport properties. Monitors the safe drop-off and pickup of customers by taxis, buses, and other authorized commercial carriers. The Customer Service Attendant is a service level position for oversight of vehicle and foot traffic activities during airport business hours.


    1. Monitors and facilitates drop off and pick up traffic activity. Uses hand and audio signals to direct traffic.
    2. Monitors arrival and departure of commercial, contracted, and vendor traffic. Confirms their status by seeking and verifying permits and licenses.
    3. Reports suspicious and unauthorized activities and/ or persons on airport property to the appropriate policing or security authority.
    4. Observes and reports roadway, walkway, and parking areas for potential safety issues such as but not limited to, debris, spills, obstructions, and uneven surfaces.
    5. Provides assistance to customers needing urgent assistance for injuries or medical conditions. Calls for the proper level of assistance and response. May administer first aid when necessary.
    6. Patrols parking areas. Conveys to customers the airport authority regulations for parking.
    7. Provides information to customers, vendors, and contractor in a courteous and friendly manner.
    8. Performs other duties as assigned to meet overall objective of the position and in support of the CCAA Mission.



    The position requires basic knowledge of traffic and pedestrian laws, regulations, and airport policy. Requires basic knowledge of safety for public areas. Requires sufficient English language and grammar to document work activity. Requires sufficient human relations skills to exercise courtesy and patience when conveying information, giving directions, or explaining rules and policies to customers.




    Requires the ability to carry out the duties of the position. Requires the ability to remain calm in normal, urgent, and emergency situations. Requires the ability to follow standing instructions about transportation, traffic, walkway, and parking rules, and regulations. Requires the ability to give directions and pass on information to customers in a courteous and understandable manner.




    Requires the ability to perform work in indoor and outdoor environments engaged in work of an active nature. Requires ambulatory ability to move about facilities and airport grounds. Requires near and far visual acuity to observe movement of people and vehicles, read and write printed materials. Requires the ability to lift lightweight objects under 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, and to speak and project voice to customers over and above traffic noise. Requires the ability to work varying schedules. Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.




    Work performed primarily outdoors where safety considerations exist with moving vehicles, uneven surfaces, physical activity, and extreme weather conditions.




    Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with traffic monitoring, curbside assistance, and related customer service preferred.




    Requires a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
